It was located at Plaka, where the seaport of Leonidion is situated today. This is where the sea washed up the coffin with the dead body of Semeli and her only son, Dionysus. The devout local people honored Semeli with a burial and placed defenseless Dionysus under the protection of the Nymph Ino.<\/p>\n<p>The port of Plaka became a commercial trading center, distributing merchandise inland and even as far as the regions of south Laconia.
