There are also many chapels on the surrounding mountains. From there visitors can gaze at the fertile plain of Leonidion with its orange and olive groves!<\/p>\n<p>The great number of monasteries on Mount Parnonas is a testament to the spiritual life of its people. Once Christianity was established among the ancient people of Kynouria, their great devotion was readily expressed. Many monasteries were erected, and chapels and wonderful churches were built in every village. The religious history of Mount Parnonas is perhaps its most captivating part.
