Pragmatefti

Pragmatefti is situated to the north-east of Leonidion on a semi-rocky slope approximately 300 meters in length at an altitude of approximately 150-250 meters. To the east of the village there is fertile cultivated land, mainly with citrus and olive trees. A small flat plateau called “Limnes” lies to the west of the village, at an altitude of 350 meters. On the south side there are ruins of an old settlement.

The view from the village is amazing. The island of Spetses, Velopoula (Parapola), the island of Hydra, Cape Skylo (Tselevinia), the whole of the Argolic Gulf and Palamidi are visible to the naked eye. Pragmatefti is a traditional village, with stone, whitewashed traditional houses and small curved roads give this village an island tone.

In the old days, Pragmatefti was called “Protevousa” (the Capital) because it was the largest of the surrounding settlements. It is inhabited since the beginning of 17th century. Its residents are involved in agriculture and livestock farming as well as fishing and tourism industry.
